Deccan Healthcare raises 15 Crore for expansion

Mumbai: FMCG major Deccan Healthcare has raised 15 crore through Nexus Venture Partners for enhancing Research and Development (R&D) and fund expansion plans. Through intensive R&D, the company informed that it has developed a range of nutraceutical products that will boost immunity and address chronic ailments. "The funding will help us enhance our R&D efforts and our expansion plans. Deccan is launching a variety of nutraceuticals addressing specific life-style problems and will also explore export opportunities," said Minto Gupta, Founder and CEO, Deccan Healthcare. Nexus Venture Partners' Sandeep Singhal, will join the Deccan Healthcare board, said that the Indian nutraceuticals market was pegged at over $1 billion and was growing at 30-40 percent annually. The company produces flaxseed-based vegetarian omega-3 products, which are sold under brands named OxyFlax and Nulife-ISB. According to research analyst Frost and Sullivan, omega-3 helps in treating cardiac ailments, bone-related diseases and prevents diabetes and cancer, and is boasted as the next super food.
