DGCA demands full security for politicians flying around Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal: The Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has asked the Madhya Pradesh government and private operators to take measures to ensure the security of top political leaders flying around the state for the election campaign, officials said Thursday. The state authorities have been asked to make sure that improvised helipads or airstrips are away from the place where people have assembled and the surface of the helipads does not have loose soil that might raise dust and reduce visibility at the time of landing. The flight crew has also been asked to ensure that helicopter rotors and aircraft propellers come to a complete stop before permitting embarking or disembarking of passengers. Aircraft entered on the Non-Scheduled Permit should only be used for carriage of passengers for remuneration, the DGCA has recommended. Other recommendations are that before commencing flight, the pilot should familiarise himself with all available meteorological information appropriate with the intended flight. For every flight under instrument flight rules (IFR), he shall study the current weather reports and forecasts and also plan alternative course of action to provide for the eventuality that the flight cannot be completed as planned because of weather conditions.
