Cypress to set up $15-mn centre in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: The US-based Cypress Semiconductor Corporation plans to spend $15 million to establish a design centre here during the second quarter of the year. Paul Keswick, Senior Vice President, CSC, told reporters on Thursday that the company, which has its presence in Bangalore, would expand its activities using local engineering talents and the government has been urged to provide necessary infrastructure. He said $770-million turnover company, which excels in designing the complex integrated chips, have two chip fabrication facilities in the US at Minnesota and Texas, and an assembly and test plant in Manila, the Phillipines. Initially, the company planned to start its operations in Hyderabad with the skeleton staff and planned to appoint 200 engineers by the end of 2005, Keswick said.
