Bangalore: The detailed report on the Gulberg massacre in 2002 by the Supreme Court appointed Special investigation Team (SIT) has been submitted to an Ahmedabad court today, but was not made public. The court will decide on February 15 whether or not to make the report, filed in a sealed cover, available to the activists. Social activists Teesta Setalvad and Mukul Sinha and Zakia Jafri, wife of slain Congress MP Ehsan Jafri, had filed a complaint demanding the copy of the report.

SIT argued that the report there is no need to make the report assessable to human right activists now and that the court can decide on it at a later time. The team also asked more time to make the final report. The court ruled that the applicants, Setalvad and Mukul Sinha, had "no locus in the case". On grounds of the fact that Zakia Jafri is not a complainant, the SIT strongly opposed sharing the copy of the repot to her.

As the country waits for the SIT closure report on the Gulbarg massacre during the 2002 riots, Narendra Modi sounded optimistic and tweeted, “I stand for truth. Truth will never ally itself with falsehood.” Concluding his day-long Sadhbhavana fast on Sunday at Ambaji, he said, “There will be a storm in the form of criticism in the next 24 hours, but the anti-Gujarat forces will not be successful in doing any harm." "Those who have been criticising Gujarat for the last one decade are going to come back to abuse us once again and this is because they cannot digest the success of Sadhbhavna that is peace, unity and harmony," he added.
