NEW DELHI: One of AfricaÂ’s poorest nations, Congo will source essential drugs from Indian firms to meet its domestic demands. A delegation from Congo led by Congo Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ramazani Baya is talking to Indian drug firms including Ranbaxy to source essential drugs. The Congo minister said meetings had taken place with Ranbaxy executives. He declined to divulge details. "The deal would be large enough to meet the domestic drug requirements of Congo at reasonable rates," the minister said. Baya said the main aim of his visit was to convince the Indian authorities to open an embassy in Congo to allow closer political and economic ties between the two countries.
