Bangalore: Confed-ITA calls on vendors to reassess their retail coverage strategy and put a limit to the number of outlets they can have in a city. "Puducherry is a small city with a 7 lakh population. We already have two authorized HP showrooms, and both are not exactly doing well. Recently there was a move from HP to bring in an outside partner to set up a new showroom in the city," informed PN Prasad, Former President, Confed-ITA. "We have requested HP not to set up the third showroom, till the market grows." Prasad said that HP has only three authorized outlets in a larger market like Coimbatore, which has a population of 30 lakh. "Not just HP, other vendors too don't seem to have a clear policy on number of retail outlets they need to have in a city. Having more than the desired number of branded shops is doing more harm than good to both partners and vendors," added Prasad N.
