Chinese company opens R&D center in India

NEW DELHI:Chinese telecom giant ZTE Corporation has opened a factory and R&D center in India. ZTE is second Chinese company to have R&D facility in India after Huawei which commenced operations in 1999. Located in Manesar in Haryana, the factory will manufacture manufacture CDMA, GSM, DSL, and NGN equipment, as well as assemble mobile handsets. "ZTE has been committed to the Indian market for several years," said ZTE's VP of the South-Asian region Zhang Renjun. "Our new facility will provide additional local support to our valued Indian customers, allowing us to better meet their requirements and expectations. I am confident that ZTE will become one of the largest telecommunication enterprises in this fast-growing market". "We will achieve our long-term goals by staying close to our customers and partners and delivering excellent but cost-effective products, thereby bringing greater revenues to service providers," he added. Earlier this year, ZTE reached an agreement with Atlas Interactive worth more than Rs 100 crore. The contract involves supplying and commissioning a VoIP network as the foundation for a range of triple-play services for subscribers. In 2003, ZTE had signed a contract with BSNL to provide nationwide CDMA WLL equipment and solutions.
