Bangalore: Check Point Software Technologies, a global provider of IT security solutions, has unveiled new threat management appliances. The new UTM-1 Edge N and Safe@Office appliances deliver gigabit firewall performance and will cost $750. Designed to meet the needs of small and medium businesses and branch offices, the new threat management appliances give enterprise-class security, that include firewall, Intrusion Prevention (IPS), anti-virus, anti-spam, web filtering and remote access connectivity. These appliances have high security and networking features like Gigabit Ethernet supporting high-performance networking capabilities and seamless 3G and wireless connectivity supporting the IEEE 802.11n Wi-Fi standards. According to Bhaskar Bakthavatsalu, Regional Director - India & SAARC, Check Point Software Technologies, small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) face the same security challenges as larger enterprises. Because of the threat of a data breach, companies are forced to restrict access to sensitive networks and databases. "UTM-1 Edge N and Safe@Office appliances help the SMBs enhance their security and allow faster connectivity to keep business running smoothly. Apart from being cost-effective, it is simple to manage and can be deployed in less than ten minutes", said Bakthavatsalu. Users of UTM-1 Edge will be able to centrally manage thousands of remote sites from a single enterprise console; ensuring branch offices remain just as secure as corporate sites. On the other hand, Safe@Office will provide integrated security and connectivity features. Both UTM-1 Edge N and Safe@Office has built-in management, security updates and support.
