Canara Bank's Q3 net profit up 5 percent

Mumbai: Public sector lender Canara Bank today reported a jump of 5.05 per cent in its net profit at Rs 1,105.73 crore for the quarter ending December 31, 2010. Bank's net profit in October-December 2009-10 quarter was Rs 1,052.58 crore. In a BSE filing, the bank said its total income in the third quarter of the fiscal was Rs 6,444.55 crore, up from Rs 5,469.10 crore in the corresponding period of 2009-10. In the nine months period of the current fiscal, the bank reported a net profit of Rs 3,126.98 crore, while it was Rs 2,518.43 crore during April-December 2009-10. The total income during the three-quarters ending December 2010 was Rs 18,416.46 crore. Shares of Canara Bank were trading at Rs 588, up 4.55 per cent over previous close on the BSE.
