NEW DELHI: Manoj Vaish, chief executive officer of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), submitted his resignation Monday. The BSE board has accepted his resignation, said exchange officials, noting that Vaish would continue to hold the chief executive's office till September. "It was his personal decision. He wanted to quit because he wanted to pursue his own business. There was no pressure on him," said S. Jambunathan, the BSE chairman. "There is a procedure in place (for selecting Vaish's successor). The BSE will appoint a CEO before Manoj quits in September. It will be done in consultation with the market regulator," he said. Vaish was appointed CEO and executive director of BSE in January 2003 for a period of three years. Before that, he held significant positions in the exchange as director (training and research), director (corporate development), and deputy executive director. He is the first chief executive of BSE. Before joining the exchange, he had worked with ANZ Grindlays Bank and Deutsche Bank.
