Bangalore: In a bid to rope in more Indian partners and make use of the country's huge talent pool, Boeing, an aircraft manufacturer, has expanded its Research and Technology (R&T) center in Bangalore. "There is an exceptional talent pool in India as it is the second largest pool of scientists and technologists in the world," said John J Tracy, Chief Technology Officer, Boeing, during the inauguration of the new lab. The new center in India, which is the third overseas R&T for the firm, targets $105 billion revenue in 20 years from the commercial side (Boeing Commercial Airplanes) and $31 billion from the military arena (Integrated Defense Systems) in 10 years. The center has a current headcount of 30 researchers and technologists and it plans to expand it further. The firm also expects to strengthen its collaborative partnerships with companies like Wipro, HCL, Infotech and Tata Consultancy Services through the new lab. The aircraft manufacturer is also a partner of premier institutes and research labs like Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL), National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL), Indian Institute of Science (IISC) and Bharat Electronics (BEL). The company had set its first foot print in India in 2003 through its wholly owned Indian subsidiary Boeing India (BICIPL). Currently, its India presence is expanded all across nine cities including Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune and Delhi. It plans to deliver 100 aircrafts in India in the next five years worth $17 billion.
