Bangalore: Bobbie Singh-Allen has been named Executive Vice President (VP) and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Sacramento based California Lodging Industry Association (CLIA). Bobbie will be the main spokesperson for the association and manage membership development activities. CLIA works with hospitality and business groups to advocate for the state's $95 billion tourism industry. The COO is the paid chief officer responsible for implementation of policies and programs mandated by the group's board. CLIA Chairman and President Howard Mathews said, "CLIA is extremely fortunate to be able to engage a person like Bobbie Singh-Allen with the experience and knowledge she has, and most of all the quality of leadership she brings to our organization." Bobbie recently served as Vice President of government and legal relations at another lodging association. She has worked for over 15 years on housing, real estate, community development and environmental issues for nonprofit groups, land developers, homebuilders, political candidates and transportation organizations. Bobbie is a former Elk Grove Teen Center board member and is currently on the Elk Grove Food Bank board and is active with the Rotary Club of Laguna Sunrise. She has a law degree from the Lincoln Law School in Sacramento and B.A. and M.A. degrees in government from California State University at Sacramento. "I am happy to join the CLIA family," Bobbie said in a statement. "My grandfather opened one of the first hotels in my birth city of Jalandhar. My family learned quickly the importance a hotel represents in a community." "Elected officials, businessmen, families, and others would travel from near and far to find the comforts of a home away from home," she said. "Being a hotelier is in my blood."
