MENLO PARK, CA:BlueRun Ventures, a venture capital firm focusing on early stage companies, has named Vasudev Bhandarkar venture partner. Bhandarkar will bring his experience in marketing, sales and business strategy to the early-stage information technology, consumer Internet and wireless companies that the firm adds to its portfolio. He comes to BlueRun from Qbera Ventures, where he worked as managing director. The firm was formed in March 2004, but "the fund never took form," said Bhandarkar. "It was a concept." Previously, he worked for Unimobile as chief executive and chairman. In his career, he also co-founded Selectica Inc. and served as vice president of marketing and business development. BlueRun, formerly Nokia Venture Partners, is currently raising its third fund, BlueRun III. The firm held an initial close for the vehicle in February and plans to hold a final closing in the second half of the year, targeting $350 million.
