Bhilai Steel posts best-ever April-December performance

Raipur: Bhilai Steel Plant concluded April-December with the best-ever performance as its production touched 4.04 million tonnes (MT) of hot metal, 3.87 MT of crude steel and 3.31 MT of saleable steel, a company official said Friday. The plant, located some 30 km west of Chhattisgarh's capital Raipur, is the flagship unit of the state-owned Steel Authority of India (SAIL). It has registered an overall growth of 4.1 percent, 3.7 percent and 2.2 percent respectively, in the three segments over the corresponding period last year. "Bhilai Steel Plant has been giving special thrust to increasing production of value-added special steel grade products. The cumulative April-December production of 122,004 tonnes of high tensile plates for home sales have been the highest-ever for the April-December period," a company spokesperson said.
