Bangalore: World Cyber Games (WCG) is back after confusions cropping out of rumours about its cancellation following the backout of Indiagames. The decision about dates and venues for the offline qualifiers is yet to be decided, reports Balanarayan N T of DNA. The event has got many criticism attached to it, primarily because of its bad management. "There's a lot of uncertainty with the dates and there's no guarantee that the organisers will pay for the winners' trip to the finals in Los Angeles," said Vishwanath, a city-based gamer. Gamers also have issues with the line-up of games for the India stage as in India, the qualifiers are limited to just FIFA and Counter Strike. Popular games such as Warcraft III have not even been included this year which has disappointed the gamers. "For the past four years, I have been waiting for an Xbox game. In 2007, there was Project Gotham Racing 3 (PGR3), but no Dead or Alive 4 (DOA4). So in 2008, I practiced PGR3 for a whole year, and was disappointed when it wasn't even an option," says Ajay Chekhalia, a console gamer on being disappointed about the few choices for games made available to him. But the company seems quite positive about the way they are going. "The WCG 2010 India Championship is the biggest digital gaming event in Indiacovering three platforms of gaming i.e. Mobile, PC and Console . UTV Indiagames has been WCG's strategic partner in India since 2002, and we firmly believe that the World Cyber Games provide an excellent platform to young gamers from India to compete in the Olympics of digital gaming," said Vishal Gondal, founder and CEO, UTV Indiagames.
