India's engineering major Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BHEL) has bagged a 14.25 billion turnkey project to set up two units of 210 MW each at Parichha Thermal Power Station in Uttar Pradesh.

NEW DELHI: The Uttar Pradesh Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd (UPVUNL) project is slated for commissioning by 2007, a BHEL statement said Friday. The state-owned BHEL earlier supplied and commissioned two units of 110 MW each for the station, located near Jhansi. The current turnkey order envisages complete design, manufacture, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of main plant equipment, comprising boilers and turbine generators with associated auxiliaries, state-of-the-art controls and instrumentation, besides complete civil and structural works. BHEL would also provide two 700 HP diesel electric shunting locomotives for movement of rakes for handling material and feedstock from the railways siding to the power station. A major supplier of power generation equipment, BHEL sets account for over 65 percent of India's total installed generating capacity of about 104,000 MW.
