Atlanta firm relocates IT jobs to U.S.

NEW DELHI: Xpanxion, an Atlanta-based IT outsourcing and software development company, has announced plans to relocate a segment of its software testing operations and quality assurance (QA) program from Pune, to Nebraska.
According to reports, the center, which is scheduled to open in the coming months, will send back dozens of high-tech jobs to help the rural Nebraska community.
Xpanxion's decision shows how the America's heartland is gearing up to compete for high-value jobs being created in the wake of global outsourcing, which has so far been tapped by India.
Xpanxion termed this new software development model as "Cross-Sourcing." Xpanxion said the model combines the best elements of local, offshore, and rural outsourcing. The model will enable the company to have American workers add to the overall value proposition of outsourcing, without compromising the offshore price advantage.
The company sees Cross-Sourcing helping clients to control their costs while eliminating many of the logistical and cultural challenges that have traditionally plagued offshore development projects.
"Cross-Sourcing allows us to parlay the economic value of our programming team in India, the expertise of on-site project managers in Atlanta, and the high work ethic and quality standards of the Nebraska workforce," says Paul Eurek, Xpanxion's CEO, and a Nebraska native in a report being widely circulated across the country.
The company is also eyeing several government incentive programs in Nebraska that aims at increasing the presence of IT industries in rural areas.
Eurek sees the project as a win-win venture that will bring jobs back to the U.S., and improve the quality of the outsourced product while maintaining the lower software development costs that companies have come to depend on.
