Bangalore: As Anna reaches Mumbai, the battlefield is all set for the clash between the civil society and the Congress Party as the ruling party is in no mood to surrender to Team Anna’s demands, but looks all set for a political battle ahead of the upcoming assembly election in five states. The slugfest is getting sloppy over Anna Hazare’s RSS link and Congress, with its senior and charismatic leader Digvijay Singh, is lashing out at the movement showing no signs of a compromise over its policies.

As the ground of Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA) is all set to become a national landmark, more than 50,000 people are expected to visit the spot as Anna starts his three-day long hunger strike. The venue is literally fortified by the Maharashtra police and has over 2000 constables and 200 sub-inspectors of police at the spot. According to agency inputs, six platoons of state reserve police force, three teams of Quick Response Team and two Bomb Detection and Disposal Squads.

There will be six emergency exits, six metal detector units, 16 fire extinguishers and round-the-clock ambulance services available in the ground. The the 48,000 square metres MMRDA ground can accommodate over 60,000 people but the authorities are renting out 20,000 square metres for the rally and 10,000 square metres for parking. Team Anna has reportedly paid over 7.78 lakh as rent and another 5.29 lakh as security deposit for the rally.

Anna Hazare is suffering from an infection but has been declared fit to fast by his doctor. He is expected to begin his fast at around 11 am on Tuesday. The call for ‘jail bharo’ is gaining momentum in a fast rhythm and according to the organizers, the campaign has over 1 lakh registered people.
