Bangalore: “I think whether it is the middle order or tail you need to have some pride," former Australian spinner Stuart MacGill advised the visiting team India; however, there isn’t an infinitesimal glimpse of pride seen, at least not when India suffers the sixth consecutive away Test defeat, not when intolerant youngsters in Team India flip the middle finger to hecklers, and definitely not when rumors spread about serious infighting in the team.

Team India’s travel sickness doesn’t seem to have gotten any better as it continues the losing spree abroad with a 2-0 defeat in the ongoing Australian tour after the disastrous England tour that ended up in India losing all the four matches. Australia won the first test match at Melbourne by 122 runs after bowling out India for 169 runs in the second innings. The second-ranked test team was further humiliated in the second test match at the Sydney Cricket Ground where the home side recorded a test win by an innings and 68 runs. India won’t be able to hold its No. 2 spot in Test Rankings regardless of the results of remaining two matches and all the senior players in the team including Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman and Virender Sehwag have dropped their test rankings.

The blame game goes wide open as usual and the obvious target is the Indian skipper and the senior players. The question of the hour is - Should Mahendra Singh Dhoni give up the captaincy? Calls for his head are heard from different quarters accusing that the captain has lost his touch and has deviated from his tactics of taking initiative to a negative approach of being too defensive who, as Mark Waugh termed, sits back and waits for the opponents to make mistakes. The apathetic attitude of the cool captain has come under severe criticism that many like Ian Chappell think that he is a good ODI skipper, but not a Test skipper.
