New Delhi: IBM's robust hardware platform has been selected by Andhra Pradesh Grameen Vikas Bank (APGVB), to run its mission critical core banking application. APGVB, after careful evaluation chose to implement IBM's System x servers, across their 530 branches. APGVB was one of the first regional rural banks in the country to implement a core banking application. Data protection is critical at the server level and with servers situated in remote, regional locations, 24 hour availability, maximum redundancy, high-availability services and business continuity was paramount. IBM Business Partner, SS Computer Shoppe, created a flexible, reliable solution for the APGVB by including the IBM System x 3200 server solution with a dual core Intel Xeon server. Designed as an entry server for network infrastructure applications, this server will ensure enhanced performance, better availability and flexibility than that of competitive servers. IBM secured the deal after demonstrating the performance, reliability, availability and redundancy provided by the IBM platform. The IBM solution helps to simplify the client's environment without sacrificing performance or availability and improves service time to APGVB customers. "IBM is happy to engage with AP Grameen Vikas Bank in their vision of transforming lives of rural citizens in the country. We will continue to support their endeavors and enable their ongoing operations and future expansion programs," said Ajay Mittal, Vice President - General Business, Systems and Technology Group, IBM India/ South Asia. IBM is aggressively increasing its focus on the small and medium businesses in India including those based in smaller cities. IBM recently announced a set of offerings targeted at SMB (small and medium businesses) clients in tier-2 and tier-3 cities and has tied up with new partners to bring the entire range of its hardware, software and services capabilities to the small and mid - sized clients in India.
