Belief #3: Avoid The Ugly Baby Syndrome

According to Patel, it’s quite a common sight where entrepreneurs usually fall in love with their ideas. This is like parents who fall in love with their new baby; even though everyone knows newborns are ugly. And this is the ugly baby syndrome.

Patel advises entrepreneurs that instead of falling in love with the idea; fall in love with solving problems. “People go around saying that I have the best idea in the world. Even though someone say your idea is the worst, people still tend to stick on to the same. This is a habit that an entrepreneur must let go off.”

The best way to avoid the ugly baby syndrome is to have a mentor who can provide advices at a regular basis. Listen closely to your mentor and also listen closely to what customers are saying, advises Patel.

And a final piece of advice from Patel- “Just because you like your idea, it does not mean it is good.”
