Meka is another San Francisco based robotics firm that is known for creating the Dreamer sociable head, a humanoid robot head that is capable of expressing a diverse range of facial expressions. Meka Robotics was founded as a spin-off from the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. The company’s website now reads, “We have been acquired by Google and are busy building the robot revolution. Please come again”.

Schaft based in Japan is the creator of the humanoid robot that is significantly stronger than the rest. The actuators used are a step-up from the traditional servo motors, these new systems have higher output, are capacitor-powered and water-cooled. This strong robot is meant to be used in rescue operations where it is much too hazardous to send humans in.

#8 Industrial Perception

This is an American company that is a spin-off of Willow Garage, a robotics research lab. Industrial Perception specializes in 3D vision-guided robotics technology. Their robots stack and sort boxes like no other. The company’s robots are immensely useful in the logistics and manufacturing industry.
