How to Win Friend and Influence People:  As the title suggests, Dale Carnegies’ books shows people how to make new friends and influences them to be a good leaders. The book is divided into four major sections. The first part, Fundamental Techniques in Handling People explains how you should honestly appreciate people and avoid criticizing or condemning them. In the following sections, the book talks about the  six ways to make people genuinely like you and in turn to be interested in others by remembering their names, listening to them, making them feel important, talking in terms of their interest and last of all, give a warm smile.

The author further states that by respecting peoples’ opinions, letting the other person do the talking, sympathizing with their ideas and looking at their perspective, you can win people to your way of thinking.  The last section talks about being a good leader who honestly appreciates his people and corrects them without directly pinpointing their mistakes.

Drive: ‘Drive’ is the fourth book written by the author Daniel H. Pink who is famous for his books on business, work and management. In this book, Pink goes against the psychological factors behind motivation such as rewards and punishment and says that it depends on factors like money. In summary, Pink says that rewards do not work these days and people are motivated by external factors like money. After four decades of research, Pink discusses the effect that business has on motivation. He says that the three element of true motivation are autonomy-desire to direct our own lives, mastery- the urge to get better at something that matters and purpose- the yearning to do something bigger.
