Australia comes second in the list with 45 percent mobile internet penetration. The country has about 8.8 million Smartphone users and there are predictions that Smartphone users will reach 12.2 million by the end of this year as per Yahoo Finance. An estimated 18% of Australian households now own at least one tablet device. Tablet devices are forecast to reach 39% of homes by 2013.

#1 Japan

Japan leads in mobile internet penetration with whooping 88 percent. In the country the mobile phones have become ubiquitous, and Japanese call mobile phones as keitai denwa, which means “portable telephones," and are often known simply as keitai. And Japan’s wireless operator eAccess is reportedly offering downlink speeds of 300 Mbps according to TeleGeography, which is not common in other countries, this obviously makes Japan the leader when it comes to internet access through mobiles.
