6 Technologies Designed To Harm You

#4 War Texting

“War Texting” is in no way related to war. It’s the simple process of hijacking any hardware connected to the universally present GSM mobile phone networks.  Now-a-days everything from surveillance cameras to cars to home automation systems depends on GSM network for its updates. The main reason for this is its cheap and is a more convenient way of update. But the same factor put this technology into the area most susceptible to attacks.

War texting requires comparatively less time and resources. A hacker barely needs 2 hours to hack your car. Last year, at the Black Hat security conference, security consultants Matthew Solnic and Don Bailey displayed the threat of war texting by unlocking the doors and starting the engine of a car- all remotely within a couple of hours.

Sonic and Bailey first figured out a way to intercept the signals between car and the network. After that they hacked into it by recreating the messages from a laptop.
