6 Surprising Ideas that Made Millions

Clocky

We all love to hit the snooze button while sleeping. So an innovative idea was thought by a MIT Graduate student, Gauri Nanda, who built a moving alarm clock. A clock outfitted with two wheels rolls over across the floor when the snooze button is hit, which forces the groggy owner to get out of bed to turn it off.

Once Nanda graduated, she improved her clock model and started selling it commercially with the aid of financial help from family. Now, Clocky is sold by thousands of retailers in more than 45 countries, which has earned nearly $10 million in sales since its inception. Another version of clocky, called as Tocky, is also another hit. It is wheel-less version of Clocky which rolls off the nightstand using its own momentum.
