The Vista was criticized on several parameters: restrictive licensing time, softwares to restrict copying of protected digital media, and usability of the new user account control. Microsoft rolled out several operating systems and it made no sense to the consumers. The drivers which worked with XP, did not respond to Vista which made the migration to Vista tougher. XP has been the most loved operating system made by Microsoft, which never allowed Vista to even trickle down in the market. In 2007, Microsoft accepted the failure of Vista and started the development of the much hyper Windows 7.
