5 Dying Technologies in Smartphones

Resistive Touchscreen

The introduction of touchscreen to Smartphones came with the resistive technology. Resistive touch screen had many advanyages including its high resistance to liquids and contaminants. Also, the technology was low cost. But its main disadvantages, including the need to press down for response and poor contrast, due to additional reflections from the many layers below the screen, pushed the technology to the past. Resistive touch screens also did not support multi-touch interfaces.

Apple was the first company that brought capacitive touch screens, a replacement to the existed resistive technology, along with the iPhone. Now, resistive touchscreens literally disappeared from the Smartphones giving its way to the smoother, responsive capacitive ones.

Black and White Screens

Nowadays, you might not find black and white or grey screens even in the extreme low end phones available in the market. They are just a memory now.  The Smartphone market is ruled by phones which support millions of colors.
