The mastermind of Wal-Mart, Sam was stead fast on creating a revolution in the retail industry. He believed in ultimate customer service and brought in the radical cost cutting philosophy after opening the first store in 1962. He was the first to hire a computer whiz to overhaul the company’s logistics and inventory systems, leading to unprecedented efficiency that enabled Wal-Mart to out compete virtually every department store in existence, as reported by TIME.
