#3 Royal Dutch Shell

Royal Dutch Shell, a Netherlands based company, makes revenue of 56 percent of the country’s GDP and it is ranked at No.3 in the list.

Royal Dutch Shell is commonly referred to as Shell and it is a Dutch-British multi-national oil and gas company, headquartered in The Hague, Netherlands with its registered office in London. It is the world’s second largest company in terms of revenue as of 2011 and also one among the six great oil and gas “super majors.” Shell has also ranked among the world’s 10 most valuable companies.

Shell is ever active in every industry related activities, including exploration and production, refining, distribution and marketing, petro-chemicals, power generation and trading. It has major renewable energy activities such as bio-fuels, hydrogen, solar and wind power etc.

With operations in around 9 countries and with 44,000 service stations all across the world, it produces up to 3.1 million barrels of oil equivalent per day.

The company has a primary listing on the London Stock Exchange. It is a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index and as of July 2012, it was the largest company on the FTSE, with a market capitalization of 140.9 billion pound. Shell has the secondary listings on Euronext Amsterdam and the New York Stock Exchange.

China Mobile is a Hong Kong based Chinese state-owned telecommunication company that offers mobile voice and multimedia services through its nation-wide mobile telecommunications network. It becomes the world’s fourth largest company that dominates its own parent country by constituting 34 percent of its Gross Domestic Product.

The largest mobile telecommunications company by market capitalization, China Mobile is listed in both the New York Stock Exchange and Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

With about 655 million subscribers, China mobile is the world’s largest mobile phone operator, till date.
