Sonia Gandhi
Sonia Gandhi has been President of the Indian National Congress party since 1998, this year she completes 15 years on the post. The Italian born is also the chairperson of the UPA government. It is ironic that the longest serving President of the Indian National Congress party was initially reluctant to join the party. She played important roles in making the Right to Information Act and National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme into law.  She was rated 29 in the annual survey of ‘The World's 50 Most Influential Figures’ conducted by the British magazine ‘New Statesman’ in 2010. 

Ambika Soni
Until last October Ambika Soni was the Minister of Information and Broadcasting. A congress veteran, she began her political career in 1969. A friend of Indira Gandhi, Ambika was elected the president of Indian Youth Congress in 1975 and has closely worked with Sanjay Gandhi. She became the president of the All India Mahila Congress in 1998. From 1999 to 2006 she was the General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC). Before she became the Information and Broadcasting Minister, she was Minister of Culture. She is a devoted politician who is currently a member of Rajya Sabha.
