10 Reasons Why Apple Broke Up with Google

6. Google's Hardware Blitz

Google, in January announced the launch of its Nexus One smartphone in January 2010, challenging Apple in the hardware as well.

Google further grew its smartphone offerings in May 2012, when it acquired Motorola Mobility for $12.5 billion. With a full portfolio of mobile devices under its belt, like the Motorola Droid Razr, it started competing directly with the iPhone.

5. Siri Casts Shadow Over Google Search

In October 2011, Apple introduced the iPhone 4S with a voice-activated assistant named Siri. Users liked the feature and used Siri to tell them the weather, the latest news or where the closest grocery store was - all without lifting a finger. This came as a bad news for Google, as lesser iPhone users now used it to find what they needed. Google, however, is reportedly working on a Siri type voice-activated assistant of its own for later this year.
