The Namesake

The namesake is a 2006 film by Mira Nair which is based upon a novel by Jhumpa Lahiri with the same title. After the movie was screened at film festivals in Toronto and New York City, it was released in the U.S. in 2007.The Namesake takes us through the life of a Bengali couple who embraces the Indian heritage even after settling in America for years and watch in a state of shock and disappointment their kids favouring American culture.
