#2 Pablo Picasso (The dream)
Price: $155 million

‘The Dream’ is one of the most famous paintings ever done by Picasso. It depicts his lover Marie Teresa Walter lying back in an arm chair with closed eyes. The piece of art done in 1932 was sold to Steven Cohen by Steve Wynn in 2013. The deal fetched the seller a massive sum of $155 million.

#3 Jackson Pollock (Number 5)
Price: $140 million

This contemporary piece of art was painted in 1948 and is considered to be the most expensive art in these genera. The American painter applied thick layers of brown and yellow paints giving it a nest like appearance. Number 5 was sold by David Geffen in 2006 to an anonymous buyer, however the price quoted for the painting shows the strength of contemporary art.

#4 Willem De Kooning (Woman III)
Price: $137.2 million  

This is the only ‘woman’ painting of Kooning, and is still kept private. The art work was done in 1952 and was sold to Steven Cohen later in 2006 by David Geffen. Woman III is considered to be the only post war painting which is still not in a museum. The picture is popularly known as ‘black goddess’
