#7 Trading Places

Unlike the pangs that Arthur Miller’s ‘Death of a Salesman’ depicts; ‘Trading Places’ has more of an optimistic approach. It is another stock broker movie that is going to inspire you. The story imparts that anyone in a capitalist society can win or lose, no matter from where they come, what social status or ethnic background they have.

Billy Ray Valentine is a homeless beggar, who tricks people into giving him money by disguising to be a blind paraplegic. While Louis Winthorpe III is a mega wealthy stock broker working for most successful trading firm in New York City. On a bet for a dollar, they are both given each other’s lives to know whether Valentine and Winthorpe could adapt to their new predicaments; or would they remain what they are , would they fail to take up each other’s role and go back to their own poor and rich selves.  In between enjoying this laugh-out-louder comedy we will come to learn a few things about stock market and trading.
