World's 10 Most Expensive Whiskies

The Macallan 1947 Fine and Rare Collection:

The Macallan 1947 Fine and Rare Collection is ninth on the most expensive list with a price of $6800. In 1962 the  Macallan 1947 was bottled for Italy at first as a 15 year old before it was repacked as the Fine and Rare range. Compared to the today’s Macallan this edition is considered to be peatier due to the use of peat in the furnace due to the shortage and high price on coal during and even after the second world war. It’s natural colour is beech and rich with a wide range of light fruits, wood spice and bitter chocolates.

Ladybank Single Malt:

At a price of $4,700 Ladybank Single Malt is the last on the list yet not the least at all. A collection of only 300 bottles of this rare Ladybank Single Malt is produced each year. To get a bottle one has to become a member of the Ladybank Distillery in Edinburgh, Scotland. The main plan of the Ladybank Distillery was to produce the Grant’s blend whisky when the distillery was built in the year 1960 by William Grant. The last production was a decade ago, but few malts have been released now, are as they are so rare that they have become an item of collectors choice.

Whisky is not for anyone and everyone; it might sound corny to say it’s for that someone with a certain acquired taste. As said by Mark Twain "Too much of anything is bad, but too much of good whiskey is barely enough” and it stands totally true to a real whisky disciple who can appreciate the true worth behind the prices of these whiskies.
