'Sexting' on the Rise Among Indian Teens

Dr Sameer Malhotra, head of Mental Health and Behavioral Sciences at Max hospital said, teenagers suffering from impulse controls are most vulnerable to such acts, as reported in Times Of India. Those who are impulsive, vulnerable, lonely and in need of attention are more likely to take up sexting. Some of the main reasons are the kind of movies teenagers watch and also the increased access to internet. Also the popularity of smartphones with camera has added more teenagers to sexting.

According to the survey, women are more into sexting as compared to men. One reason why women have beaten the men may be that women are more likely to get luckier than men, so texting may be worth the effort.

Sexting cases are on the rise. There have been legal issues connected to sexting. In 2007, 32 Australian teenagers from the state of Victoria were prosecuted as a result of sexting activity.
