Indian Voters' 9 Wish-list for a Change

Lack of Job Opportunities:  In India, the lack of job opportunities is a serious matter for everyone irrespective of the gender, age, wealth, rural and urban areas. As such, the count of people being without a job is on the rise in India as economic slowdown and slower business expansion activities cast a shadow on employment generation, say experts.

Unemployment rate in India is showing an increasing trend since 2011 when it was 3.5 percent. The same rose to 3.6 percent in 2012 and climbed to 3.7 percent last year. Ritu Mehrotra, HR at Mahindra Group company, said, "Government should step up their efforts to support skill and retraining activities to address the gaps between demand and supply of work skills and qualifications and to address long-term unemployment," reports PTI. However, in states like Kerala and Karnataka, this is not among the 10 top issues.

Healthcare Facilities: India has witnessed a massive development in various fields over the last decade but the country’s population is still deprived of various health infrastructure and facilities that are easily accessed and enjoyed by people in some other countries. As compared to the urbanites, rural Indians face more severity when it comes to healthcare facilities. Healthcare is the only industry that still faces lot of challenges in providing equivalent services to the rural and urban Indians, according to the latest study entitled-“Understanding Healthcare Access in India: What is the Current State?,” carried out by IMS Institute for Healthcare Informatics. The reach to any healthcare centres physically turns out to be a big task and challenge in rural areas as people travel beyond five kilometers most of the time to avail the inpatient facility.
