End Of XP Support- X Ways To Secure Your PC

 #5. Virtual machine

Virtual machines are the best way to continue using the software on Windows XP while upgrading to a newer version of Windows. The virtual machine allows you to place the entire Windows XP in a single window on your desktop, Windows 7 Professional includes Windows XP mode, for this reason. The virtual mode lets you run Windows XP without buying the licensed version.

If you are upgrading to a Windows 7 home or a Windows 8, the Windows XP mode is not included. If you want to use Windows XP you will have to get a boxed copy or install it inside a virtual machine. Free software like virtual box or VMware player both will help you serve the purpose. Windows virtual mode helps you run most of the Windows XP applications, but not all.

The dead line also applies for Windows XP virtual machine. However running it on the modern Windows operating system as a virtual mode is much secured than running the Windows XP as the primary one.

#6. Move on

For people who do not wish to upgrade to a newer version of Windows the alternate solution for them to stay secured would be to use free operating systems like Ubuntu or Lubuntu. These operating systems work well with older hardware, and will be supported with security patches for years.
