A Legend Reborn: Rohan Marley Brings to India the 'House of Marley'

Indians are slowly understanding the mellowness of reggae music and are soon adopting the Rastafarian lifestyle to some extent and Rohan has smartly chosen the right time to enter the country. The word ‘Marley’ itself brings a sense of pride to every Jamaican and now with various business arms, the company is providing enough employment and is also constantly striving for the upliftment of the Jamaican community. When I asked him if his father’s name is helping his business flourish he said, “I am not the only ‘Marley’ out there and it’s just not my father who is Marley, but more than anything it is the principle of my father that I stick on to with. Since we are Bob’s children it is also our duty to ensure that we believe and promote his message which we implement in our daily lives to business.”

When Rohan tried his hands in music by following his father’s path, the very thought, was itself a failure.

Of course, but what else can a man think of when his DNA is filled with music? Whatsoever be the output, he was determined to set up a business still keeping in mind music and thus the ‘House of Marley’ was born. Promotion and marketing must not be a big deal for Marley enterprises as most young kids and punks, most often wear clothes and accessories with pictures of Bob on it. When I asked how it feels to see his father’s picture all around on t-shirts and accessories of young punks, he said “It sure feels great to see my father all around but I strongly wish that his name and fame is used for all good purposes.”
