Is Offering Warranties Just A Gimmick For Developers?

When it comes to offering warranties, developers only hand over the warranty papers to home buyers. Whereas, after you get the possession, you are anyway have right to get warranties on appliances like kitchen chimneys, bathroom fittings, CFLs, ceiling fans and so on.

Now, the question arise is whether offering warranties is just to attract home buyers? "Most top developers want to protect their reputation, so they opt for branded material. The guarantees are a genuine effort by builders, not a gimmick to sell their projects," said Boman Rustom Irani, chairman & managing director of Rustomjee Group.

But, if there is any issue with the products, developers have to run to product manufacturers and developers might turn into deaf ears after passing the warranty card. Nevertheless, proving warranty with the product also means that the product is a branded one and of a good quality, which brings little satisfactory for home buyers. "Appliances covered by manufacturer warranties tend to be of a better quality," added Ahuja.
