Maintaining the property

Since you are not going to live in the house all through the year, keeping a vacation home in pristine condition is quite very expensive than for a regular house.  Maintaining the property is a tough job as the home remains locked for a longer duration and you are not sure whether the people will take care of your property during the rental period. Also, to get fair rentals, you need to keep a furnished house, which may need to change quite often if many people are visiting the place and are not so careful about the fixtures.

A caretaker is also needed to maintain your property in good manner and also for security measures, as it is not possible for you to visit frequently. But, the process of buying a vacation home and setting it for rentals need lots of your involvement and time. So, it is better to invest in a vacation home only when you can devote lot of time and can visit more often.
