Could you tell us briefly about your family background?
I hail from a family of 3 brothers and 1 sister. My sister is working as professor in Zoology and my both brothers are working as Software Engineers.
Currently working at
I am working as a Test Module Lead in IBM India Pvt Ltd based at Bangalore.
I am leading a team for one of the biggest insurance company in the US. My role includes to see that teh deliverables meet the customer expectations and that the quality of the work product matches their standards
Areas for the Future
In Future Automation testing will play a vital role and specially in open source softwares like selenium which at present are used by many companies
Points of inflection
Joining IBM at a time when we had to lay the foundation for the new project which helped me to learn and manage the team and understand the mind of the customer in a better sense

Essential Advice
Testing as told is not an easy job which seems so but it has a lot of responsibility and needs to gain knowledge. A Tester is someone who interacts with different people across the development and test life cycle. Needs to be a person who can approach any one and vice versa. Needs to be diplomatic.
Most Important Decisions
Taking up the role to lead the team inspite of others who were not accepting the role.
A Fine Balance:
I manage my time and prioritize the things and at times had to see what is important and make it a point to spend time with my family daily and avoid working on weekends.
Prefer to work from Office and try not to carry work to home.
Changes in the industry
When i started way back in 2004 it was more of Manual Testing and excel sheets being used and now it is both manual and automation and different test managment tools.
The strategy in testing also changed and has a lot of pressure from clients to deliver in a lesser time.
Plans for the Future
I would be in a management role

Companies shifting to open source tools and needs to upgrade myself in those.
The Journey So Far
I have started my career in testing field as a manual test engineer in 2005 and worked for ERP applications and later moved to a servidce based company to work as a team lead and also moved to Automation and now currently working with IBM as a Test Module Lead
