Could you tell us briefly about your family background?

I am from a middle class family in Kerala and started my career with LIC of India at the young age of 21.My father is a Post Graduate in English Literature. I have one younger brother and 2 sisters, settled in Kerala. I moved to Chennai in 1997 and to Mumbai in 2008 for better opportunities.

Prized Accomplishment(s):

I do Financial Planning online. In most cases, I am not seeing my clients. I do it through emails and phone calls. Now, I am getting most of my clients through referrals from my existing clients. In most cases, they have not seen me, but still refer clients!

Other Thoughts:

I am feeling happy, when I help somebody through financial planning. After working in the corporate sector for 20 years, I am seeing this as an opportunity to give something back to the society.

Degrees That Matter:

Yes, I have passed the CFP examination (Certified Financial Planner) before starting this consultancy firm. I have done a PG Diploma in Financial Advising from Indian Institute of Banking and Finance. I am also a Fellow of Insurance Institute Of India (FIII).Basically, I am a Physics graduate. (BSc)

Working Life Management:

I tried to allot time to my family. I was not doing this effectively during my corporate life till 2010.

Required Reading:

Journal from Financial planning Standards Body of India is a good material to read. More than this, be familiar with Financial Magazines like Outlook money and Dailies like Economic Times.

The Journey So Far:

I joined in 1989 in LIC as an Assistant and resigned in 2000 as a Branch Manager. I joined in the private sector in 2000 and moved to the Rank of Country Head with the Number -1 private life insurance company in India. I started my firm in 2010 and planning to make it a success.

Changes In The Professional Environment:

The Financial planning in India is in the beginning stage and I am experiencing the attached difficulties. But it will be good in the long term to associate with a sunrise sector. The awareness level is increasing and now people are slowly ready to pay for advise,when they see value for money.

Plans For The Future:

I would like to make Finvin as a pioneer in financial planning sector. I am visualizing that day, when customers will start investing in financial products only with the recommendations from a Financial Planner. This will help customers in long term wealth creation.

I started Finvin Financial Planners in 2010. The vision of Finvin is to offer unbiased financial advise to customers at affordable prices. We are not selling any financial products to ensure 100% unbiased advise.

At present I am an entrepreneur and enjoying this role. Till 2010, I was with the corporate sector in different roles from Branch Manager to Country Head.
