Houston: Hundreds of high-end luxury items, including shoes, clothing, accessories and art works formerly belonging to Sujata "Sue" Sachdeva, an Indian-American ex-top executive jailed for 11 years for embezzling USD 34 million, will be sold on April 21-22 by a consignment store.
By mandate of the US Attorney's Office, Ivana's Trunk, a Mequon consignment store, will sell off the remainder of the possessions of Sachdeva, the former vice president of Koss.

Items up for sale are very high-end luxury products like housewares, china, crystal, sterling silver, linens, shoes, clothing, accessories, luggage, electronics, figurines and art. Many of the items to be sold are still in their original packaging.

Sachdeva's attorneys argued she embezzled the money as a way to pay for irrational shopping caused by mental illness.

Prosecutors did not dispute Sachdeva likely suffered from bipolar disorder and compulsive shopping.     But they said, "It is an explanation, but not an excuse."

Sachdeva never took the tags off of many of the items and had to rent storage spaces because she could not fit everything she bought into her house.

The brands of items to be sold by consignment include St John Couture Home, Jay Strongwater, Daum Crystal, Waterford, Michael Wainwright, L'Objet, Arthur Court, Nambe, Kim Seybert, Michael Aram, Le Creuset, Clothing by Chanel, St John Couture, Peggy Jennings, and LaFayette 128.

A preview of the items for sale will take place on Friday from 5 to 7 pm local time. The sale will take place on Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm, and on Sunday from noon to 3 pm.
