Kamala Harris
Following U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder's resignation in September, Harris was floated as a possible replacement. And indeed it was great replacement, as the Indian-American Attorney General went on to beat Republican challenger Ronald Gold to secure her second consecutive term.
Kamala Harris who is the first woman as well as the first Indian-African-American and South Asian to hold the job, has previously served two terms as San Francisco’s district attorney before being sworn in as the Attorney general of the state of California on 3 Jan 2011.
As the state’s chief law enforcement officer, Harris has gone the tough way by taking some decisive decisions on combating transnational gangs that are trafficking guns, drugs, and human beings throughout California.
