Bangalore: Shijith Nambiar and Parvathy Menon, a couple who hails from Chennai is all set to introduce "Krishna" -- a tapestry of Indian music, choreography and dramatic performance -- to the United States. This will include a show at Palace Theatre in Stamford on 27th of this month.

"We're really thrilled to be here," said Nambiar. "We are so happy and excited to spread our traditions and culture outside of India’’, as reported by Scott Gargan of ctpost.com.

According to Nambiar, the performance will surely impress the Indian community in Stamford and he also believes that the American audience will be excited as well.

"The dances are not only for Indians. I don't just want Indian people to see the performance. The colors, technicality, lighting, costumes, the visual image -- American audiences can relate to that as well’’, said Nambiar in a phone interview, as reported by Gargan.

Both Nambiar and Menon are graduates from Kalakshetra, one of the best art academies in Chennai and they are great admirers of bharatanatyam and traditional songs.

The couple has been performing "Krishna" in all the major Indian cities since the year 2007 and recently they decided to establish their performance on a global platform, starting from Europe and now in the U.S. They have received positive response so far from Indian as well as American audience.
Nambiar feels that the response they received is an indication of America’s eagerness to accept new traditions.

"We want to share our divine thoughts, energy and experience to all the people, all the art lovers," Nambiar said. "We have only done five performances, but already we feel very welcomed."
