Bangalore: The Supreme Court in South Carolina will hear the ethics case against Governor Nikki Haley on March 20. The court will decide whether the allegations against Haley by John Rainey, a Republican activist should be heard in state court or not.

According to Rainey, Haley misused her position as the GOP state representative from Lexington County, for personal benefits.

Casey Manning, 5th Circuit Judge forwarded the case to the House of ethics, which cleared Haley of any wrongdoings.

During her gubernatorial campaign in the year 2010, Haley met Rainey at his Camden farm and their relationship took on an unpleasant turn from then on. According to Rainey, he questioned Haley about her non-legislative jobs, including her work as a consultant, which made Haley anxious. It is also said that Rainey insulted Haley’s family heritage by making certain comments and associating them with terrorists.

“From our perspective, this just means we’ll have yet another dismissal of these baseless claims sooner than we would have,” Haley spokesman Rob Godfrey said.
