Indian American Wins 'Outstanding Young Scientist Award'

Bangalore: Rajesh Raitani, an Indian American has been honoured with the  ‘Outstanding Young Scientist Award’ by the Society of Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration(SME),an information sharing and engineering networking firm.

Rajesh is an engineer at Cytec Industries in Stamford, Connecticut and he won the award under the category ‘Industrial Minerals & Aggregates’. His work on mineral processing helped him bag the award and he was honoured recently at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center.

The award was established in the year 1995 and it honours people who have made important contributions to SME and those who have an excellent reputation of professionalism and undertakings.

Rajesh is the vice-chair for the specialty of Minerals Technical Committee of IM&AD of SME and is also the program committee vice-chair for SME’s Annual Meeting which is going to be held the present year. Earlier, he has worked as an independent reviewer for International Journal of Mineral Processing and has also published and presented numerous papers.

Rajesh did his UG studies at the Indian school of Mines, Dhanabad and completed graduation from the University of Utah.
