Google Enters The Android War, Threatens Other Android Players


The South Korean firm, Samsung focuses on higher-margin offerings like its Galaxy S series. According to Neil Mawston, a UK-based analyst at Strategy Analytics, “A major threat for Samsung is that Android One will accelerate the race to the bottom on smartphone pricing,” reports Reuters.

Now it is interesting to note that what Google will gain out of this Android war. A strong push of Android smartphones will increase the access to the internet and Google's suite of products, allowing Google to pour more money into its pocket.

Same goes for Indian phone manufacturers that are optimistic regarding the Android play as it will help them to reach international markets such as South Africa and Russia. Karbonn, the Indian smartphone maker are expecting a greater share of overseas revenue from the smartphone sale that is 5-7 percent now.

According to Rachel Lashford, a Singapore-based analyst at tech research firm Canalys, “Samsung needs to figure out whether it's going to stay in (the) market at the lower end and come lower or whether it’s going to maybe focus on higher level segments,” reports Reuters.

It would be worth watching whether Google surpasses the smartphone race or Samsung; the key player in this stream has some more tactics to give Google a thunder setback.
